Which outdoor cover or pedestal suits your SMA home EV charger? Start with the exact model reference. SMA EV Charger 7.4/22 and SMA eCharger have different housings and mounting clearances.

Does Crystal Shell fit an SMA charger?
Standard Crystal Shell has external dimensions of 360 × 450 × 290 mm. These are not usable internal dimensions: the frame, shield shape and access space must also be considered. The 460 mm width of EV Charger 7.4/22 exceeds the external width of the standard cover in its upright position, so that arrangement does not shield the entire front. At 495 mm tall, eCharger exceeds the standard cover’s 450 mm external height. An arrangement providing the intended shielding and required clearances has not yet been confirmed.
Crystal Shell 360 adds cable storage; Station 360 also adds a pedestal. The rear panel’s dimensions do not establish that a charger fits beneath the shield. Any rotation of the module needs a separate check while keeping the charger in a manufacturer-approved mounting position.

Sun protection and ventilation
For EV Charger 7.4/22, SMA specifies a mounting location without direct solar irradiation. Its manual explains that direct sun can prematurely age plastic parts and contribute to overheating, causing output power to reduce. A shelter must preserve ventilation and service clearances.
Get your installation checked
Provide the exact model code, front and side photos, and whether you need a wall-mounted or freestanding installation. For an existing installation, also show the space between the charger and nearby obstructions.
