A heat pump visible from the garden, entrance or windows can change the appearance of a carefully designed space. With Shield, Box Air Klima introduces modular screens: independent panels arranged around the installation, screening the chosen views while respecting the unit’s requirements.
Modular screening planned around the installation
Shield is a screening system for heat pumps and outdoor units, made of freestanding panels separate from the equipment. The number and layout of modules depend on the available space, the views to screen and the equipment manufacturer’s instructions. Straight, corner and multi-sided layouts allow different settings to share a consistent appearance.

Homes and gardens
A single heat pump can be screened from a path, seating area or windows. The layout starts with the direction from which the unit is visible.
Apartment buildings and hospitality
Screens help organise the appearance of courtyards and service areas. Height, length and maintenance access are planned together with the equipment positions.
Businesses and larger installations
Several modules can provide screening for groups of outdoor units. The design considers the overall footprint and access to each unit.
Panel placement starts with the equipment
Heat pump screening must respect airflow paths and the technical clearances required by the installed model. Shield is configured to maintain the distances specified by the manufacturer. There is no single clearance suitable for every unit.
- Identify the make, model and air intake and discharge directions.
- Check the manual’s clearances from panels and existing obstacles.
- Allow room for pipework, connections, inspection and maintenance.
The modular layout lets you choose where screening is placed. The configuration must be checked against the unit’s instructions and actual site conditions.
Aluminium composite and stainless steel
The screens presented in the brochure use aluminium composite and stainless steel, materials within the Box Air Klima construction range. Panels form the screening surfaces, while structural components provide support. The system is designed and manufactured by Box Air Klima in Italy.
Colours, sizes and layouts on request
The screen can follow the style of the façade, fencing or other outdoor features. The brochure presents several colours and configurations, with custom colours and sizes available on request. The available space is the starting point for a suitable layout.
Optional acoustic insulation
Alongside visual screening, Shield can be considered with an internal lining for acoustic insulation. This optional configuration is specified for the equipment and its surroundings. A lining does not establish a guaranteed noise reduction: the outcome depends on the layout, noise source and installation conditions.
Questions about modular screens
Can they be used for a small heat pump?
A layout for a single unit can be assessed. The design considers its dimensions, the view to screen and ventilation and maintenance clearances.
Can only the front be screened?
Front, corner and multi-sided layouts can be considered. Every panel position must respect the equipment manufacturer’s instructions.
Do all screens include acoustic insulation?
Acoustic insulation is optional. Include this requirement in your enquiry so it can be assessed together with visual screening.
What information is needed for a proposal?
Send photographs of the area, the equipment make and model, dimensions and available space. The manual’s clearances and the sides you want to screen are also useful.
