Big Blade adjustable louvres allow the geometry of the cover openings to be changed manually. They do not regulate the heat pump automatically and do not replace the clearances or instructions specified by the outdoor-unit manufacturer.
What changes when a louvre is tilted?
Changing the angle changes the visible open section between adjacent louvres and the geometric direction of the opening. This helps coordinate visual screening and air-passage areas for the specific unit and installation layout.
This is an observable design benefit. The video does not measure airflow rate, efficiency, energy savings or noise reduction. Any such figures would require specific testing on the installation concerned.
Intake, discharge and heat-pump clearances
Before selecting a louvre position, identify the intake and discharge areas of the outdoor unit. Openings, walls, pipework and cover panels must not conflict with the distances stated in the heat-pump manual.
- identify the unit make, model and airflow layout;
- check the manufacturer’s front, side, top and rear clearances;
- allow for pipework, valves, drains and service points;
- keep maintenance panels accessible;
- verify the complete arrangement while the unit is operating.
Adjustment is manual
The louvres shown are positioned by hand. This page does not describe sensors or automation. There is no universal setting: the correct position depends on the Big Blade configuration, the heat pump and the actual installation.
Visual closure should not be treated as advice to close the openings fully while the unit is running. The heat-pump manufacturer’s instructions and the installer’s assessment remain the priority.
The video also shows fixings
The full film is not a universal installation manual. In addition to the louvres, it shows some assembly and fixing steps. It documents the construction and handling of the system; the sequence, tools and anchor points must be confirmed from the documentation for the selected model and layout.
Prepare the selection
- choose the layout: wall-mounted, floor-mounted beside a wall, or freestanding;
- read the dimensions on the sales page for that exact configuration;
- compare unit size, connections, clearances and service access;
- provide the heat-pump model plus front and side photographs for project review.
